High blood pressure causes harm due to the increased א workload of the heart and blood vessels — making them work harder. Over time, this high systolic pressure causes the degradation of delicate tissue inside the arteries. The more the damage, the thinner the arteries become, which bring on a multitude of other risk factors such as heart attacks, strokes and cardiac arrests.
